
Massachusetts State police are investigating an apparent road rage incident in Lynn that resulted in an assault in the lanes of Route 1A near a carwash on Friday morning.
Troopers said they responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a person being assaulted in connection with a road rage incident that occurred near Lynnway North at Harding Street.
Video from a witness shows one individual falling to the ground after being punched by another. State police confirmed one person was punched in the face and fell from the curb.
Revere Fire and EMS were called to the location to treat the victim, state police said.
According to state police, the person who threw the punch stayed at the scene. NewsCenter 5 spoke to that man by phone, and he said that he was defending himself after the person in the red sweatshirt struck him first.
The incident remains under investigation. Massachusetts State Police have not said whether any arrests were made or if charges may be filed.
