President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice is facing a shocking discovery from inside its own ranks.
Newly released bodycam footage obtained by NPR shows Jared Wise, a senior DOJ adviser and former FBI agent, shouting, “Kill ’em!” and calling Capitol police “the Gestapo” and “Nazis” during the January 6 protests.
NPR reported that Wise was “captured on police body camera video repeatedly urging rioters to kill officers” as clashes erupted outside the U.S. Capitol. The video, which surfaced more than four years after the events, is now under review by Trump’s DOJ as part of its broader push for transparency.
Wise served in the FBI from 2004 to 2017, handling sensitive cases and operating at the highest levels of federal law enforcement. On January 6, 2021, he was reportedly living in Oregon but was still connected to federal consulting work.
His presence at the protest and his aggressive language toward police have raised serious questions about his role.
The footage shows Wise hurling insults at law enforcement officers struggling to control the crowd. Calling them “the Gestapo” and “Nazis” mirrors the same anti-police rhetoric Democrats tolerated and encouraged during the 2020 riots.
Following January 6, Wise was indicted on six felony counts. He was never convicted. President Trump later issued pardons to all January 6 defendants, including Wise, calling the prosecutions “politically motivated” and pledging to end the two-tiered justice system that punishes political opponents while protecting insiders.
Despite the footage, the DOJ confirmed Wise remains on staff. A department spokesperson described him as “a valued member” of the agency, a statement that has sparked outrage among conservatives.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed the revelation, saying, “If a DOJ adviser can tell protestors to kill police and keep his job, then the swamp protects its own.”
Greene has called for the immediate release of all internal communications regarding Wise’s conduct and continued employment.
For conservatives, the video destroys the narrative crafted by the Biden administration and its allies in the media.
That storyline depicted January 6 as the work of “radical Trump extremists” alone, while ignoring or hiding evidence of government-connected individuals participating and escalating tensions.
Under President Trump’s leadership, the DOJ is under pressure to determine whether Wise acted alone or whether his actions were part of a broader failure by Biden-era officials. The notion that a DOJ-connected insider could be on tape encouraging violence against police is a scandal that cannot be ignored.
Critics argue that this is further proof of institutional rot. “The same DOJ that wanted to ruin the lives of everyday Americans for walking inside the Capitol is protecting one of its own caught on tape telling people to kill cops,” one conservative commentator said.
The delay in releasing this footage has also raised eyebrows. Many are asking why the video was not made public sooner and whether it was deliberately suppressed to protect the DOJ’s image during the Biden years.
President Trump’s DOJ has promised to release more evidence related to January 6 in the coming months, aiming to correct the record and expose misconduct. Wise’s case is now at the center of that effort.
This development also reignites debate over the presence of federal agents or informants within the crowd on January 6. While the DOJ has denied such infiltration was intended to provoke violence, the Wise footage fuels speculation.
The FBI’s history of infiltration into politically sensitive movements adds to those suspicions. Past programs like COINTELPRO have shown that the line between observation and instigation can be blurred by federal actors.
For Trump’s supporters, this is more than just another January 6 story. It is a clear example of the double standard they have been warning about for years. Ordinary Americans have faced lengthy prison sentences for far less than what Wise was recorded doing.
Greene and other Republicans have promised congressional hearings if the DOJ fails to take action. “The American people deserve to know why this man is still on the payroll,” Greene said.
The Wise revelations also serve as a reminder of why Trump’s pardons were necessary. In many cases, the prosecutions were not about justice but about silencing dissent and punishing political enemies.
